Women friendly Leeds blog

In one month’s time, Hate Crime Awareness Week is taking place, on 14th-21st October. A launch event for the week in Leeds will be taking place on Friday 13th October. The launch event will be opened by Cllr. Abigail Marshall-Katung and will focus on LGBTQ+ hate. Attendees will then hear from West Yorkshire Lord Mayor, Tracy Brabin, and LGBT+ Elected Member Champion, Cllr. Hannah Bithell.

Galop will be speaking about their work on a national level to tackle LGBT+ hate. Director of Leeds Pride, Liaqat Ali, will share his lived experience. There will also be an input from a Hate Crime Coordinator at West Yorkshire Police about the work they do with the LGBT+ community in Leeds as well as time for table discussions.
